“I was trying to surprise you.”

“Well, guess what,” I crossed my arms. “It worked.”

He stared at me, and I hated the look on his face. I really didn’t mean to hurt him. I was scared because I didn’t know who was in my room.

“Look,” I tucked my hair in behind my ears. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I swear that, but you frightened me.”

“You need to make it up to me then.”

“I promise.” I kissed his soft kips. “Come on. Let’s go to bed without any violence.” I took his hand, and we went back to my room.

I fixed my covers, because everything had been ripped off. When I finished, Dash and I crawled in and turned off the lights.

“Am I the first girl to give you a black eye?” I teased Dash, as I found a comfortable spot on my stomach, curled up with my pillow.

“Well, I’m sure many have thought about it, but yes, you’re the first.” I heard him chuckle.

“I really didn’t mean to. I thought you were a mass murder or something.”

“Maybe I should have called first, but I was trying to be nice and not wake you up. When Dart told me he was coming over here, I thought it was a good idea to sleep with you tonight.”

“You’ll know for next time.” I rolled unto my back, and stared at the ceiling. My adrenaline was still pumping, and I started thinking about something Dash said.

Did he say he was my ‘boyfriend’?

“You’re thinking about something. What is it?” I heard Dash place something on the nightstand, and I assumed it was the ice pack.

  “How did you know?”

“What is it?” he ignored my question and faced me. I could see a faint expression on his face, but I didn’t know what he was thinking.

I quickly debated with myself whether I should say anything. On one hand, he might not even realize that he said it. On the other, maybe I misheard him, and I could be overthinking this whole thing. I decided to just ask.

“Did you call yourself my boyfriend?”

  “When?”

  “Here. A few minutes ago.”

I could tell he was thinking about the events and what he’d said. “Oh, yeah, I guess I did.”

I rolled over and mirrored his position. “Dash, shouldn’t we talk about this? I mean, aren’t we supposed to?”

  “Garnet, do you like me?”

  “Yes.”

  “Do you care about me?”

“When I’m not trying to give you a black eye, yes,” I giggled.

“Okay, well, I like you and you know that I care about you, therefore, we’re boyfriend and girlfriend. And there will be no one else for either of us.”

I wasn’t sure if I was happy or pissed off. Dash closed his eyes as I continued to stare at him, waiting for something to happen, but nothing did. He actually looked asleep. I did the most logical thing I could think of: I slugged him in the shoulder and yelled for him to wake up.

“Ouch, what the hell, Garnet? Don’t you think that you’ve assaulted me enough tonight?” He propped up on his elbow.

“You can’t just say that we’re in a relationship and then fall asleep.” I hissed at him, with my jaw clenched tight.

“Well, I did, and we are. What do you want, a lot of pomp and circumstance? I’m not Dart and you’re not Daisy. Now, I’m tired because I’ve had a long day, and you know that. Are we done?”

Dash was right; we weren’t Daisy and Dart. We didn’t do all that lovey dovey shit they did. We cared about each other our way. His blue eyes were filled with seriousness, and I could see that he was exhausted.

I grabbed the back of his neck and kissed him hard on the lips.

  Dash Terrance was my boyfriend.

  Chapter 24 – Daisy

“This is a big change,” I said when Dart pulled the chair out for me.

“I was thinking the same thing.” Garnet smiled up at Dash.

Every Sunday, Dash has cooked at their house. Today, we were at the Hall of Fame Restaurant. We didn’t get dressed up or anything; it was simple and relaxing. We were seated in the back room, which seemed strange to me. Then again, Dart didn’t liked to be bothered a lot when we are out in the main room. Usually, people and fans left us alone, but after the game they’d played yesterday, more people would, more than likely, talk to us.

“In this light, Dash’s black eye looks worse,” I teased him, making Dart laugh.

“I think it makes him look mean.” Garnet tried to defend him.

“It looks like he got slugged by a girl.” Dart jumped in on the teasing.

“Ha, ha,” Dash rolled his eyes.

“So, what are you going to order?” Dart changed the subject and reached for my hand.

“Hhmm,” I looked through the pages. “I’m not sure.”

“Well, I’m ordering steak, since Dart is buying today.” Dash shut his menu.

“Dart’s paying? Well, now how much is this five pound lobster?” Garnet teased.

“Okay, enough. If you guys want to be part of this, then be serious.” Dart put his hand over his mouth, Dash busted into laughter, and Garnet’s eyes went wide.

“Part of what?” I looked between the three of them, feeling like I was missing a punchline of a joke. “Dart?”

“You opened your mouth, you need to go ahead and finish it,” Dash told him as Dart ignored me.

“Shit,” Dash mumbled. “This isn’t how I planned it.”

“What the hell is going on?” I tossed my menu down and crossed my arms. These three had been planning something, and I didn’t like being left out of the loop.

“Daisy, calm down.” Dart reached for my hand, giving it a soft squeeze.

The waitress walked up to our table and asked if we were ready to order.

“No,” I shouted. “Go away,” I commanded.

“Daisy,” Dart’s voice was a mixture of shock and chastisement, but the waitress complied and scurried away.

“Man, I’m glad I’m here for this,” Dash chuckled, and Garnet laughed too.

I gasped as the first thought entered my head. “You’re breaking up with me.” I couldn’t believe it. He’d brought them along to humiliate me. I never thought Dart would do this to me. Our love was special, or so I thought. I guess I was wrong.

  “Daisy,” Dart rubbed his temples.

“I can’t believe you. After almost four years together, and everything we planned for our future, this is how you repay me? Now, you’re throwing it all away. Have you been stringing me along all this time?” I humph, pouted, and slouched down in my seat. “Who is she Dart? How long have you been cheating on me?” I knew that had to be the reason; it had to be some slut. “You’re no better than Dash.”

“Why do I always get pulled into these conversations?” Dash whined to Garnet, making her laugh harder.

“Daisy, when do I have time to cheat on you? If I’m not in class, at football practice, or doing homework, I’m with you.”

“Whatever,” I stuck my nose in the air, trying to not show my tears.

“Daisy,” by Dart’s tone, I knew he’d had enough. Well, so had I, and I was about to get up and leave. “I’m not breaking with you.” He slammed a small black, velvet box on the table. “I’m asking you to marry me.”

“See, the anger in his face reminds me that he has a dark side. He almost looks like me.” Dash continued with his commentary, and Garnet snorted.

“What?” I sat up, slowly looking at the box and ignoring Dash. “You…what?” I still don’t think I understood what was going on. I touched the soft velvet of the box.

“I’m asking you, will you marry me?” Dart removed the tiny box from my fingers and opened it. I gasped, covering my mouth with my hands.

My first thought was, what kind of dress what I going to wear? Maybe a ball gown? Then I looked away from the ring, and into Dart’s soft blue eyes. At that point, I didn’t care if I wore a paper sack; I wanted to be with Dart and only him for the rest of
my life.

“Yes,” the tears fell before I even knew I was crying. “Yes, Dart, I’ll marry you.” I cupped his face, and pulled him to me, kissing his beautiful mouth.

“You know we’re still here right?” Dash’s question tried to break our kiss, but I couldn’t stop. Instead, I flipped my middle finger at him. “Well, at least I know she can multi-task,” he smarted off.

Dart gave me a few feathery kisses before pulling back. He reached for the ring, and put it on my finger. It’s sparkle was almost hypnotizing. I couldn’t take my eyes away from it; I wanted to stare at it forever.

“Wow, Dart, it’s beautiful. I can’t believe what a great job you did picking it out.”

“Well, I didn’t really pick it out.”

“Huh?” I finally looked away from the ring.

“Garnet went with Dash and me, and she was the one that picked it out.”

I whipped my head over to my younger sister, who was giving me a tiny smile. “I guess, I should thank you then.”

She shrugged, but I could see a hint of appreciation, and happiness in her expression.

“Can we order now? I’m hungry.” Dash belted out.

We all settled back down and enjoyed an amazing lunch together. We laughed, joked, and it was the first time that I felt like we were a true family. I could see us in the future doing the same thing with our children running around us.

Even though I was so enamored with Dart, I kept glancing over at the interaction between Dash and Garnet. They were becoming more serious in their relationship. I could see it. I know they had only been together for a short time, but their bond was strong.

When Dart pulled into the driveway. I quickly asked Garnet to run over to our house together. I practically dragged her over there. I had been thinking about this the entire lunch, and I needed to tell her, in private.

“Daisy, I think you’re about to rip my arm off,” she declared as we walked into our house.

I ignored her and wrapped her up in a hug. “Thank you.” I felt everything building up in me. “I know I’m not the greatest sister, but thank you for helping Dart with this. I don’t know if you’ll believe me, but I love you so much.” My voice cracked as I continued. “I’m so very proud of you.”

I meant every word, too. I could see the changes in her the last few weeks since she and Dash had been together. I didn’t realize how much he had been helping her.

Garnet hugged me back, putting her arms tight around my waist. For a moment, I felt like we were sisters again.

“I’m happy for you,” she whispered to me.

I kissed her cheek, and I went back across the street to spend time with the man of my dreams. I walked in as Dart and Dash were laughing about something.

It’s strange to see them next to each other. Yes, they’re identical; yet, they are so different. I made a bold move. Something I never thought I would ever do before and something I’ve never done.

I walked right past Dart and hugged Dash.

“Um, Daisy, I hate to burst your bubble, but I’m Dash.”

“I know.” I stepped away from him. “But, I know you’ve really been there for Garnet, and I wanted to thank you. Even though we’re still working on our sister relationship, I know that she’s been relying on you a lot.” I looked at the floor.

I’ve been thinking a lot since Garnet blew up at me. She was right; I shouldn’t have been so selfish. I loved my sorority and my friends, but I hadn’t been there for my sister. My real sister. Garnet needed me and I’d abandoned her. I knew that I had, and I needed to fix that. I needed to show Garnet that I wasn’t going to leave her again and that she could always could on me. I would do anything to repair our relationship rebuild the relationship that we would take with us into the future.

“You’re welcome, Daisy,” Dash’s voice was sincere. “Now,” he released me. “I’m leaving, so you two can enjoy your sex marathon.” He shuddered and left.

“That’s something I could go for right now.” Dart kissed me below my ear lobe.

  “Me, too.”

  ~~

I wrapped myself in the sheet, still panting from the ecstasy of Dart’s magic fingers and tongue. “Have I told you… lately… that I love you?” I still couldn’t catch my breath.

“Not in the last twenty-five minutes.” Dart kissed my nose.

“I do.” I was able to able to breathe again.

“Now, those are two words you need to remember when you have on a white dress.” He winked.

The lump of happiness got caught in my throat. I touched his cheek, as the light gleamed off my new diamond ring.

  “I love you, Daisy.”

  “I love you, Dart.”

He positioned me on my back, hovering over me, and rubbed against me. My legs were open, ready for him. He reached for the condom, rolling it on.

“Dart,” I tried to rush him.

“Mmm,” he nuzzled my neck, still teasing me.

“Stop it, Dart. I need you. I need you inside me.” I wrapped my legs around his hips and tried to pull him closer to my waiting, ready body, but I wasn’t strong enough.

“But I like making you squirm.” He pushed the tip in, and then removed it.

“Please,” I begged him as if my body hadn’t already had two orgasms already.

He unwrapped my legs, and he rose up on his knees. His smile was bright as he looked down at me. He began to toy with my sensitive nub. His thumb rotated in circles, causing me to arch my back.

I was right on the edge of losing myself, again, when Dart slammed into me. I yelled out his name. He put my legs on his shoulders, and held onto my thighs

The sound of our bodies slapping together, along with our panting, echoed throughout the room. It was like music to my ears. I loved hearing the pleasurable sounds from Dart. I knew by the pace he was keeping he was close. I squeezed my legs together, lifting my hips.

“Daisy,” Dart’s voice was deep and husky.

I yelled his name as the tension left the pit of my soul, and he collapsed on me.

  ~~

After we showered, I grabbed one of Dart’s t-shirts, and we cuddled up in his corner chair. We sat there, holding each other, letting the day’s memories wash over us.

“Are you happy?” he laid his head on my shoulder. He was inspecting my ring.

“Dart, you can’t fathom how elated I am at this very moment. I wouldn’t want to be with anyone else but you. You’re my soul mate.”

“Daisy, I’ve loved you since the moment I saw you. There’s never been, or will there be anyone but you.”

I adjusted myself to see his face. “I love you, Dart Terrance.”

“I love you, Daisy Terrance.” My heart skipped a beat when he called me that, my future name. One lone tear escaped my eyes.

“That better be a happy tear.” Dart swiped it away.

“From this moment on, they will only be happy tears, for the rest of our lives.” I kissed his lips.

“We’re going to have a long, happy, and sex filled life together.” He winked, and I laughed.

The knock at his bedroom door interrupted our moment, and Dart yelled to whomever it was to come in.

“You two done with you sex marathon?” Garnet’s red hair popped in from around the corner of the door.

“No,” Dart and I said at the same time.

“Well, take a halftime break.” Dash pushed the door all the way open. “The four of us need to go somewhere.”

“Dash, if they don’t want to go,” Garnet started, but he cut her off.

“It’s for Garnet; let’s go.” Dash ignored her and stared us down.

If it was for my sister then I was going. “Give us a few minutes,” I told them and hopped off Dart’s lap.

Dash tugged Garnet out of the room and closed the door. Dart and I quickly dressed and went downstairs to meet them.

“Where are we going?” I put on one of Dart’s ball caps, because my hair was still wet, and I didn’t
have time to fix it.

“It’s a surprise; I’m driving.” Dash said and headed out the door. Garnet followed closely behind.

The drive wasn’t long, only to the other side of town. Dash parked in a nearly deserted parking lot, and we all got out of the car.

When we walked into the building, I knew instantly that it was a dance studio. I still wasn’t sure why we were there, but I was hopeful that Garnet would dance.

She led us into a long hallway until she stopped at a large glass door. I swear all studios looked the same: floor to ceiling mirrors, high shine floors, and a hint of sweat in the air.

The guys and I sat in three very uncomfortable metal chairs. Garnet stepped into a side where I figured she was changing her clothes.

“Is she going to dance for us?” I looked at Dash.

  “Yes.”

My heart raced. It had been so long since I’d seen her on the floor.

“Why today?” Dart leaned over to me.

“Maybe because of our engagement? Do you know?” I asked Dash.

  “No,” he shook his head.

Before any of us could come up with any more conclusions, Garnet came out of the door. She had on yoga Capri pants, and a black tank top. The best thing that I saw was her ballet slippers.

She walked over to the sound system. I’ll Follow You by Shinedown began to boom throughout the room. Garnet never danced to the traditional classical music that one would think of with ballet. She always would bust out with some rock song or Motown hit. She did that mainly for our mother.

Garnet rose up to her tiptoes and began her routine. My sister was made to be a dancer. I could still remember her first performance in front of an audience. She wasn’t a shy, timid five-year-old Garnet. She was radiant and full of confidence. From that moment on, when she took center stage, you saw a completely different person.

My focus was only on her, her fluid movements, her perfectly pointed toes, and her leg extensions. It was hypnotic. Her soul was born to dance.

When the song ended and Garnet collapsed on the floor, I beat Dash to her. I wrapped my arms around her neck. I felt her tears on my skin, but I didn’t care.
